Wray Festival began this year on Saturday 28th April and ran through to Wray Fair on Monday 7th May.
Wray Fair has developed as a thriving local community event, since being dusted off and locally managed since the 1980’s. This year’s event laying claim to 25 years and 18 years since the first scarecrow festival was introduced in 1994.
This year’s festival adopted the theme of ‘anniversaries’, with scarecrows celebrating a diverse range of significant dates; 200 years since the birth of Dickens, 50 years of James Bond, 100 years since the sinking of the Titanic and reflecting two significant National events – the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics
On Sunday 29th April a Vintage & Collectables Market took place, with a Classic Bike Night on Thursday the 3rd May. For those who wanted more exercise than just wondering through the narrow streets and yards, a 10km Road Race and the Fell Race took place.
